A change of pace for today’s post – it’s always fantastic to get to photograph something as special as a couple’s wedding day, but sometimes I find an elopement can be an even stronger reminder of the sheer amount of joy that can be held in one moment of time. Dave and Melissa’s Stanley Park elopement was no exception, so I was naturally thrilled to get the chance to witness and capture the love.
I think everyone present was in awe of how lush and green everything was, it made an already intimate gathering feel all the more magical. The little sprinkle of rain too did nothing to dampen everyone’s spirits, only adding to the gorgeous, enchanting vibe of the park. And yet, just like how a wedding day or elopement can stand out amongst so many wonderful times and days in a couple’s journey together, I loved how Dave and Melissa stood out even with the stunning surroundings – both in real life and in every photo.
It’s amazing too the number of things lining up that you can find in couples’ stories: Dave and Melissa said the reason they met 10 years ago was because they both happened to be at The Lamplighter (a local pub) at the same time, and Melissa’s hand happened to get pushed into Dave’s butt (by her sister) – a hilariously weird beginning, but it obviously all worked out! Fun fact, I also captured Dave’s sister Kelly’s elopement a few months ago, also with Young, Hip & Married but that time with a helicopter! A small world to perfectly suit the small wonderful moments we get to share!
