There is something special about winter snow. It blankets the world and mutes it into a white, soft, silence. As a photographer, it allows me to capture photos that really focus on and highlight my main subjects. For this reason, I was very excited to photograph Crystal and Clark’s recent destination wedding in Whistler, at the Nita Lake Lodge. Crystal and Clark were a charming couple. Crystal wore a lace, off-the-shoulder, fit-and-flare gown that perfectly complemented the setting and made her look like a winter princess. Crystal was escorted down the aisle by her obviously proud parents, while Clark looked absolutely overjoyed to see his bride making her way to him. During the ceremony, they had the perfect backdrop of snow-kissed pine trees.

Crystal’s bridesmaids wore deep red gowns, which were matched by the groom’s ties. After the ceremony, they all bravely stepped outdoors for a photo session by the lake. The ladies smartly kept warm with fur shawls and snow boots hidden under their dresses! A special note about the bouquets and other floral arrangements—they were made with love by Clark’s Grandma, Maureen Davies.

The reception space was beautifully designed and decorated by Carlee Cindric from Pocketful Productions. Among other things, the company specializes in winter weddings, and it clearly shows. Carlee did an amazing job of bringing the beauty of winter indoors, where it conveyed a warmth that was inviting, and properly elegant. The tables featured gold chargers and pine bough center pieces. Twinkling lights overhead and along the walls were also reminiscent of the winter night sky.

It was wonderful to be a part of this couple’s special winter day and to capture such beautiful moments. I was super impressed with the venue and setting, which seemed to have a real fairy tale feel to them. It all left me believing that this wedding day was just the start of Crystal and Clark’s happily ever after…
