More often than not, the most touching and memorable services that I am fortunate enough to capture do not rely on extravagant décor and pews of people. Chris and Heathers West Vancouver backyard wedding was a clear reminder of this – a small scale, stripped back event attended only by family and the closest of friends. These acute family values became ever more apparent as I was welcomed into their tight circle with open arms – they even invited me for dinner after our time was over (delicious food by the way, courtesy of Dale Ferris).

Getting to know Chris and Heather was an absolute joy; their sense of humour resonated throughout the day and it was clear that their shared kindness and compassion made these two a perfect match. Chris and Heather truly are a 21^st century couple, meeting five years ago on Tinder – from Heather confessing that she “almost bailed on our first date” to tying the knot in their idyllic backyard wedding.

The venue could not have been more perfect for Chris and Heather. A tranquil garden filled with lush greenery contrasted beautifully with the red and blue of the bridesmaids and groomsmen who lined the cobbled path leading up to the simple, yet elegant arch. No matter how beautiful the surroundings were, nothing could take the attention away from Chris and Heather who captivated everybody in attendance.

Considering the number of smiles, laughter and tears I was busy capturing throughout the day, it was clear that Chris and Heather’s West Vancouver backyard wedding had touched the hearts of one and all. I am positive this will be the first of many incredible experiences of your new life together.
