Photographing Jenna and Yianni’s big day during their Pinnacle Hotel at The Pier wedding was a genuine joy. I have known Jenna for several years now because she works with individuals who have special needs, which was also my work life before I shifted into full-time photography. It is almost an understatement to say that Jenna has a great heart. It was wonderful to learn all about how Yianni took up residence there…

Jenna and Yianni’s love story actually reminds me of a quote I once heard: “you come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.” On Halloween 2015 Jenna and Yianni saw each other not necessarily as perfect or imperfect but in costume instead. As the story goes, Yianni was dressed as a video game character, complete with full face paint. Meanwhile, Jenna was in the role of “Rockstar,” even complete with faux tattoos. Despite all that, they were instantly drawn to one another.

Looking back on it, Jenna says “our love story began long before I met Yianni.” She thinks everything fell into place for them to meet that evening. She described being drawn to Yianni’s confidence and she wanted to get to know him better. She learned that he is calm and patient, which helps keep her grounded. In their relationship, Jenna uses her “friendly and organized personality,” to keep them connected to one another, friends, family, and life. They share many adventures together and love to explore new places.

On their big day, Jenna and Yianni had their ceremony on the pier, looking out over the water and the boats in the harbor, with the cityscape in the far distance. It was touching to see Jenna’s father, Larry Lockwood, play dual roles by also officiating the ceremony.
Jenna wore a lovely gown fit for a queen. Her bridesmaids were all dressed royally as well in various shades of lavender, purple, and plum. The floral arrangements and bouquets were similarly matched. It was a fantastic color scheme that perfectly complemented the surrounding blue waters and the clear blue sky. Simply beautiful! I was so happy for them that it all came together so perfectly, just the way they dreamed.

For the reception we moved indoors, and it was clear that everyone was happy for the newly married couple. There were tons of smiles and laughs throughout the speeches, dinner, and cake. Eventually everyone cut it up on the dance floor late into the night.

Luckily, I was able to steal Jenna and Yianni away for a bit to capture some sunset photos. The adventurous couple elected to have theirs taken at the top of the famous Lonsdale Quay “Q” sign. It was no easy feat in a wedding dress, but Jenna did not let that hold her back. I felt so fortunate to catch these lovely moments between such a special couple!
