Well, this was a special one! I have lived on the North Shore of Vancouver for over 5 years, but this was actually the first time I got to venture up to Squamish for a wedding. A Chinese Cheakamus Centre Wedding to be specific. I met Dan and Tiff through a facebook contest I was running last fall and right away I connected with their good natured attitude and willingness to laugh often and easily. They honestly were an incredibly fun couple to be around.

The venue itself, Cheakamus Centre, has several buildings dedicated to learning about the environment and the historical First Nations cultures that traditionally have settled the land. However, the real gem of the buildings has got to be the Environmental Learning Centre (ELC) which emerges through the trees and almost feels as thought it’s always been a part of the forest. There are many, many skylights for beautiful natural light to come through (which makes my photos a lot better) and the whole building has a very modern feel to it. If you’re getting married and you want a unique, natural location, this one is hard to beat!

Dan and Tiff’s wedding day incorporated a number of western traditions as well as a Chinese Tea Ceremony, complete with red outfits and a all the proper decor. The wedding ceremony was held in the woods just beside the ELC, surrounded by an amazing level of green forestation. Within a few minute walk, we also found some amazingly mossy forests, a great view of the river and mountains and a small dock and lake. There really was no shortage of good photo spots and I’m thankful to Dan and Tiff for bringing me out to this amazing spot!
